Home loan EMI calculator: estimate housing loan repayments online
Buying a home in India often requires long-tenure housing finance. Before you shortlist a lender, estimate the EMI you will carry for 15–25 years. This home loan EMI calculator helps you see monthly outflow, total interest, and how principal repayment accelerates over time.
Housing loans are typically large-ticket and rate-sensitive. A difference of 25–50 basis points can change both EMI and lifetime interest meaningfully, so use this tool to stress-test rate and tenure combinations.
How a home loan EMI calculator helps
- Quickly compare EMI for different loan amounts and tenures.
- Understand how much of early EMIs go toward interest vs principal.
- Check affordability against monthly income and existing obligations.
- Plan prepayments or shorter tenure once you know the baseline schedule.
Home loan EMI formula
E = [P × R × (1+R)^N] / [(1+R)^(N-1)], where E is EMI, P is principal, R is the monthly interest rate, and N is tenure in months. Zomint uses this reducing-balance method, which matches how most Indian housing loans are structured.
Example
For a ₹50 lakh home loan at 8.5% p.a. over 20 years, monthly EMI is approximately ₹43,391. Total interest over the tenure would be around ₹54.1 lakh on top of principal. Adjust inputs above to match your offer.
